Farm Radio International - PhotoSymphony
Composing an original song just for plants.
Agency: Banfield
Role: Creative Director
Farm Radio International uses audio to help farmers in Africa make things grow - through powerful radio programs. But, with an aging donor base, they needed to find ways to raise awareness amongst younger audiences.
To tell the Farm Radio story, we did for other people what Farm Radio does for those it helps in Africa, used audio to help their plants grow.
Studies exploring the impact of different environmental stimuli on plants have shown that frequencies between 115Hz and 250Hz, violins, heavy metal, animals chewing, and the sound of running water, among other things, promote healthier and more fruitful growth.
Armed with this knowledge, we commissioned renowned composer Andrew Forde to create PhotoSymphony, a track using a unique mashup of genres, sounds, vibrations, and instruments to promote the best growth possible.
With a budget of less than $30k, we earned more than 20 million impressions with coverage from the Global Morning Show, CBC Radio’s As It Happens, CityNews, Breakfast Television, CTV, Toronto Sun, and other outlets.
You can give your plants some love by playing the full PhotoSymphony below for them.
